Hi, again! I'm Chef Aarum aka LesBInTheKitchen. I'm a self-taught and self-published chef who has gained credibility through social media. Over the last few years, using Instagram, I have gained a wide following from all over the world. I'm known for cooking with a cocktail in one hand and music blasting in the background mixed with a love of bacon and overall charm that fills my page with exciting posts to view.
I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. I spent most of my time there around food. In my household, the kitchen was a meeting place for all major moments of my life.
In adulthood, I started cooking for people outside of the family. Eventually, I began cooking for intimate dinner parties, public events, televised guest cooking segments, just to name a few. Whether it was a small party of 2 or over 400 guests, I've made a name for myself by always bringing my personality and taste-making skills to the party.
My personal cooking profile ranges from unique combinations of richly flavored deep herb dishes to smoky bacon bites. My approach when stepping into the kitchen is “Just Have Fun” and keep it simple. Taking everyday foods and thinking outside the box and transforming them into a next level moment on the table.
After about twelve years of working in TV production, I decided to leave my career and pursue my passion for cooking. One night in my apartment in LA, my best friend and I were in my kitchen working on ideas for my first cookbook and creating a cooking Instagram page. After a few glasses of wine, my best friend Devon yelled out, "I got it: LesBInTheKitchen."
Initially, I was reluctant about the name and worried it was too personal. But my friend reassured me that it was a great play on words and a catchy name: Let's B In The Kitchen and I am a proud Lesbian. So that night LesBInTheKitchen was born. Now it really is who I am. People love the name and I love jumping into the kitchen as LesBInTheKitchen.
